Longitudinal modeling requires a nuanced understanding of the likely processes that produced the observed data as well as the assumptions, strengths, and constraints of the many models that can be used to fit a set of longitudinal data. Using latent variable modeling techniques, we will examine a variety of common longitudinal models for both panel and intensive longitudinal data. The course is both theoretical and applied, and by the end of the semester, students should be able to independently conduct a variety of longitudinal analyses using latent variable models and communicate their results other researchers.
